The Jericho Project

 The Next Generation:

"The Jericho Project"

A Charity is easy to describe, they tend to improve and help the lives of the poor, sick, and even homeless, they teach us to show compassion to one another and through this everyone learns to get along, and mainly help one another, they are so much Charities in modern times, just popping up with their goals and objectives its really hard to choose ONE to invest your time and money in. During the past year my friend,
Melissa Jhinoo Introduced me to "The Jericho Project", she is an active member and is always telling me about their cause and hopes, this charity has gotten me so interested that I wanted to do my part by doing a small interview with Paul-Daniel Nahous, so he can explain more about the charity as well as how to join and do your part to help this cause.

(The following is a Interview with Mr.Paul-Daniel Nahous)

Shivam:
1: What is the name and goal of your charity? Does it impact the public in a positive way or is it just for a personal goal?

Paul-Daniel Nahous:

1: The Jericho Project. This Project is a humanitarian organization dedicated to uplifting the lives of the smallest and weakest in society wherever they may be. From the homeless, to the orphaned, underprivileged, and disabled. We seek to be a fast acting and relief society for these disadvantaged groups, helping in the most hands on way possible at the ground level, and use peaceful means of activism to lobby for public policy change. All volunteer and purpose driven, we the members commit ourselves to breaking down the walls that separate our fragmented society

 Shivam:
2: Who founded this Charity and how long has it been in operation? What was your biggest success so far?

Paul-Daniel Nahous:

A group of concerned citizens immediately following the earthquake in Haiti, so just over 2 years and was Chaired since by Phillip Edward Alexander. The greatest success so far has been the Justice for Children March 2012 where we marched 10000-12000 citizens around the Queens Park Savannah and our demand of the passing of the Children's Bill to safeguard our nation's children was passed in both the upper and lower house of Parliament in a single sitting within 3 days.

Shivam:
3: If persons would like to join your cause what’s the criteria to join as a member?

Paul-Daniel Nahous:
Volunteer, it's as simple as that, there is a place for everyone who wants to help others. Search for The Jericho Project group on facebook and offer.

 Shivam:
4: How has this Charity touched the lives of people?

Paul-Daniel Nahous:
-Organized canned foods to send abroad as emergency relief for disaster struck areas (Cans of Hope)
-We have run massive programs for clothing the homeless and orphaned children of Trinidad (Brands of Hope),
Conduct a weekly feeding of the Homeless (My Daily Bread),
-Feed all of the homeless of Port of Spain on Christmas day,
-Deliver gifts to all of the Children warded at Mount Hope Pediatric ward, as well as several other homes,
-Used martial arts teaching to build a feeling of self-worth and confidence in orphaned children (Community outreach martial arts program),
-Annual Justice for Children March (which lobbies for Children protection and justice being brought to those who have violated children in any way)
-Annual Children's game and entertainment Day (Orphanage "Fun-A-thon")
-Currently the 40 000 items of food challenge is underway, which is geared at collecting and distributing 40 000 items of non-perishable food to children's homes around the country.

  Shivam:
5: Any events coming up so our readers can help or attend to?

 Paul-Daniel Nahous:
-The Justice for Children's March 2013. Search facebook for the 'Akiel Chambers Justice for Children March' for more details

 Shivam:
6: As any Charity how do you all obtain funds to operate, and can anyone donate any amount of money or service?

 Paul-Daniel Nahous:
We receive funds on an event to event or programme to programme basis. We don't accumulate any funds and all Cheques are too made out to the suppliers from which we are purchasing products. No member is allowed to receive any personal payments, and all must be accounted for. Any leftover is immediately used for extra charitable work.

 Shivam:
7: Have you all collaborated with other Charities or local businesses or artists for events or funding?

Paul-Daniel Nahous:
The Jericho Project deals with many other NGOs and shares events with them at times. As for local businesses, there are far too many to list, there are quite a few that donate products that their companies make to help us pull of various events
