T&T Spoken Word Production, Second Stage Seals The Deal With TEMPO

One part of the production team, Hans Des Vignes of Hand to Hand Production says the move to TEMPO is a good one

Port-of-Spain, Trinidad. June 12, 2013---- Following just two seasons of being aired in Trinidad and Tobago via CCN TV6, poetry and spoken word production, Second Stage has signed on for a third season on TEMPO networks, essentially allowing the show to reach the full compliment of the Caribbean Diaspora. Creators and producers of the show, Hand 2 Hand production and Washhouse Music will now engage tens of thousands across the region with shows that are aimed at allowing individuals and groups of all ages the opportunity to express themselves via this compelling forum. Thirty minute shows that target a wide demographic will be aired throughout the week at 1pm and again at 10pm on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. On Wednesdays however, the show gets prime time preference, as it’ll be aired at 7pm on TEMPO. Second Stage co-producer Hans Des Vignes who has provided tremendous support to a number of T&T entertainers and acts, sees this opportunity to expand the show’s visibility as a step in the right direction, not only for himself and the production teams, but also for the people who will take advantage of the opportunity to be seen and heard. “There are a lot of very talented spoken word poets out there. We’ve already produced episodes that feature some well known performers like Kerry John, Dale Ryan, Rizon, Simba Armani and best village poetry competition winner, Zakiya Gill,” said Des Vignes. He noted that each episode will feature the acts, some of whom will be Caribbean celebrities, performing on location, merging words with images and essentially arousing a high level of emotional engagement between themselves and their viewers.

A lot of emphasis is now being placed on the call for spoken word acts from across the Caribbean region to be a part of the show. “We know that the talent seen in Trinidad and Tobago is only the tip of the iceberg. There’s a lot of uncovered talent out there from Jamaica to Grenada, St. Lucia, Barbados- all over the region. We want them to be seen, heard and felt. This is their opportunity,” said Des Vignes.

With a high level of promotion via social network Facebook, Second Stage, which is hosted by Kyle Skeeto’ Amos, became quite an embraced part of Trinidad and Tobago’s television programming during its last two seasons. “We’re really satisfied with the progress the show has made in just two seasons and we’re anticipating even more development as we open things up to the wider Caribbean,” said Hans.

Tempo currently broadcasts across 22 islands in the Caribbean and four states in the continental United States. Prior to the third season being aired on TEMPO, the network will air the first two seasons as a build up to the new season. Interested poets and advertisers can contact the Second Stage production team via the Second Stage Facebook page at keyword Second Stage T&T.

Second Stage offers individuals the freedom to express in their preferred element.
