Two years ago today, T&T lost Troydon " Blazer Dan" Cruickshank- an entertainer who had given the country some of the most beautiful songs, among them Wrong Timing- a hit indeed. ETCETERABUZZ.COM remembers Blazer today, along with his manager, Sheyna Weston and of course, his friends and family. A release issued this morning noted that Blazer's death should be a lesson to the youths of T&T and the world, who may be caught up in the battle between right and wrong.

Port-of-Spain, Trinidad. Oct 22, 2012—–Two years after the murder of Troydon ‘Blazer Dan’ Cruickshank at his Chaguanas home, his family and friends continue to mourn his senseless demise. Today marks the second anniversary of the unfortunate murder of an artiste born and bred in beautiful Trinidad and Tobago- a gifted vocalist whose legacy contains both positive and negative- but still, a legacy that holds many lessons to be shared.

Sheyna Weston was Blazer Dan’s manager prior to his death and still, two years later, she holds her role with high esteem. Annually she tries to commemorate his passing, using the unfortunate situation as a focus of discussion to possibly motivate youths who may be involved in senseless violence and criminality to turn away from that lifestyle for fear of ending up dead. “It looks at the choices that you make. When you’re blessed with a talent that you don’t use, you lose it. That’s in the bible,” she said. Weston said Blazer Dan made choices that may have ultimately led to his death and while she remains saddened by the loss, she is hopeful that his murder will be a lesson to at least one person who is caught up in a battle between right and wrong.

With the realization of his death having sunk in in the past two years, Blazer’s younger brother, Ark Angel has taken up his brother’s musical purpose. Recently, the younger Cruickshank released a single dedicated to his brother. The track called, ‘ War Thing’ speaks of a violence-free society and the need for such. The vocal similarity to the late Blazer Dan is unmistakable. Noting that crime touches everyone, Weston said while some would have only known the Blazer Dan they’d read about in newspaper clippings and heard of in news reports, the fact is that there was a side of Blazer that was shared primarily with those closest to him- a side that promoted love.

Today, as family and friends mark the second anniversary of the passing of Troydon ‘Blazer Dan’ Cruickshank, Weston reminds his fans of his catalogue of music, which includes songs like, Be Mine, Wrong Timing, Stages and the collaborative track, Somebody, alongside T&T entertainers, Fay-Ann Lyons, MX Prime, BunjiGarlin and Anna Assing. His music, she assures, has been the one aspect of the late entertainer that has kept his memory strongly embedded in the fibre of her life, as well as the lives of his family and friends.

On this, the second year since the world lost Blazer Dan, Weston calls on all youths to be positive, strive for good paths and make sense of their lives, even amid negative influences of which there are many.
