Pellau Magazine: Cascadura - Carnival in August?

Port-of-Spain Trinidad was at 5pm today, alive with the energy of a carnival-like atmosphere. This as Carnival large band, Ronnie and Carro took to the streets for yet another year in what is the only street parade band launch in T&T. One prominent personality on the music scene in Trinidad told ETCETERABUZZ that he’s been left so confused by the beauty of each section presented, he’s uncertain which section he’ll be choosing for C2K13.

The band has some 12 sections with a theme called, The Mystery of the Cascadura. The band, in doing their one of a kind band launch, kicked things off today from around 3pm at Memorial Park before heading down Frederick Street to Woodford Square. Boomchampions personality and protégé to Ronnie McIntosh, Jahmoun Mendoza was the mic man for the event, however it was his DJ partner, Dangerous Robin, known for his muscular fortitude and love of carnival who told us that the sections are all very beautiful and as an avid Ronnie and Carro masquerader he already knows he’ll have a hard time deciding which section to choose.

This evening, Island People mas will host the media in what is the pre-launch of their Carnival 2013 presentation ReHumanize. The actual band launch however takes place this Saturday at the Queen’s Park Oval in Port-of-Spain from 8pm to 2am. Last year, the band faced quite a bit of criticism when it initially launched Heroes. Many felt the costumes were less than attractive and so the band went back to the drawing board, creating something that was better received by patrons.
