SAVE OUR HOME!

Cedros Beach Regarded as one of the best beaches in South Trinidad

SAVE OUR HOME Period.

Hello I am a  Resident of Cedros and I really think that its time for me to speak out for my community! Awhile back, it had a somewhat failure of a protest for the roads and hospital for Cedros, which the potholes were filled not in a professional fashion, which left the roads worse than how it was, we’re tired of calling government ministers who don’t seem to have time for citizens, and our local councilor? Nowhere to be seen and making ever so much excuses on his part, Councillor Beache has been contacted so much that we're tired of paying phone bills and wasting gas just to see him! , but this article is not to bash these people but to get help for this community! Cedros has so much to offer and over the years the government has turned their back on this part of Trinidad, not just the government that’s in power, both the PP and the PNM, nobody should have any excuse why they didn’t have ‘time’ to help this fallen community there are lots of unemployed people who are struggling to feed their families, who have to reside to odd jobs or moving out of Cedros to get jobs and take proper care of their family. Why can’t the government help these people by re introducing the agricultural sector, so much land just wasting , come on and do something for these people and their children so they’ll grow up with some ambition to brake barriers and put T&T on the map there’s a lot of talent and untapped talent in these youths we need to take their raw talents and build on that , we need more after school programs , we need to help these children, they need a safe place to play, why for only election time promises will be made and never fallen through??

Main Road Heading to Chattam village, this road is filled with unsuspecting "drops" and pot-holes which make drivers dread carefully because they have gotten flat tires, broken bumpers as well as cars swerving off the road!!!!!

We need a hospital! The distance for locals to drive on these bad roads at night when a child or elder is sick or hurt is just too long why can’t it have a doctor in the health center at night? Why can’t something be done? Only recently that TSTT had come and finally fixed a fallen pole that was there for almost 4MTHS!!!  Just help us, we’re begging you all, we’re tired of being voiceless that is why I’m writing and taking action to where people will listen to the MEDIA!
I've talked to other local residents who are afraid to be name!

when asked about the current situation Cedros is in some residents have responded:

Resident #1: I' am tired to the governments and the corrupt individuals who don't care about our community only material gains! for example the "Granville Community Center" is being fought over by two residents who are stealing money from the center!"

Resident #2: " its hard to make a living, I have finished school over 3yrs now and the only suitable work i can get is making deliveries for a hardware, I am currently saving up so i can get out of here and move up Sando where I've gotten 4 interviews with various companies"

Resident #3: " i sell vegetables for a living and do deliveries with my van, i tried to get a food card over 4yrs now and nothing has came out of it, yet so many 'big shits' have 2 or even 4 food cards!!!!! Is this how low it has gotten? look my son need a computer for Christmas for school, what am i gonna do? no jobs!"

Resident #4: " Fitzroy Beache only wa woman in his office the man cant get jobs! *laughs* he not easy, i hope he paying them the right salary"

Local Residents who are frankly FED UP!

So in closing I WOULD LIKE Councillor  Fitzroy Beache and Parliamentary Representative Paula Gopee-Scoon DO YOUR JOBS!!!!! That's all, its simple, PP and PNM stop your fighting and help his country because at the end of the day its OUR SWEET T&T!

the following are SOME pictures of 'bad roads in Cedros'

one of the DROPS in the roads causing Drivers to "swerve" to the other side

W.A.S.A dug up this pat of the road to fix a "leak" and never returned

W.A.S.A. works in Chattam , road is so bad that motorists have to slow down causing traffic on both sides

Moss on the road causing cars to slid when rain fall, or W.A.S.A trucks tip over water ect.

I'm not a resident of Cedros, But I do go to Cedros at least once a month. The roads are very uneven your vehicle is usually slanted to one side if you try to stay on your side of the road. The villages and people seem to have paused in time and from what I have come to realize its because the persons in authority thinks Cedros is only good for one thing (VOTES). The people of Cedros has lots to offer, give them a chance. Renew their fishing treaty, Give them a 24HR health facility, Encourage tourism by making the already existing ferry service from Trinidad to Venezuela more convenient and accessible to all of Trinidad. These are just some ideas from one concern citizen who does not like how the past and present Government has left Cedros back in the 80's
