Chacachacare Island Adventure- My Team Events
My Team Events took a group of 40 excited explorers off road this past Sunday for its second "Road Trip" for 2012. Their destination was Chacachacare Island, the furthest and largest of the Bocas Islands west of Trinidad. For most it was their first trip "Down de Islands" and during their boat ride the group learned about the rich and interesting history of these islands in the Gulf of Paria.
The adventure seekers went on a Chaguaramas Development Authority (CDA) guided hike and tour to the lighthouse which is on the highest point on the island some 818 meters up! As a reward for their efforts the group that braved the hilly terrain and overcast skies was afforded the most wonderful views of the Gulf of Paria, Trinidad's Northern Coast and Venezuela's Peninsula of Paria. The lighthouse which was built in 1870 is identical to the lighthouse at Galera Point in Toco (which My Team Events visited in February on their first Road Trip).
The 900 acre horse shoe shaped island is 10 miles long and two miles wide at its widest. It comprises of eight beaches, the light house, a saltwater pond and dramatic cliffs. At present the island is uninhabited and used for recreation, camping and picnics. At various times Chacachacare has served as a cotton plantation, a whaling station and a leper colony.
The sun seemed to time the group perfectly and for the rest of the day the nature lovers relaxed and enjoyed the calm, crystal clear waters of Perruquier Bay. The small bay is backed with numerous shady trees with shallow waters for about 100 meters out and a nice sandy sea floor.
My Team Events main goal is to create fun lasting memories by hosting unique events with a local twist that enable camaraderie and strengthen the bonds of friendship. The Road Trip event concept is for the adventure seeker, the nature lover, the history enthusiast and those who have a passion for new experiences.
The trip was not short of photos, the official photographer F1 Photo Studios Ltd captured every memory. The patrons left Chacachacare Island rejuvenated and ready for the next Road Trip!
