Although K.Rich is new to the Soca scene, he seems to have what it takes to ensure longevity in the industry. His hit song of 2012 ‘Nothing Less’ gave him an entry into some of the most prominent fetes this past carnival season in T&T- events such as Licensing Fete and Hott 93FM’s Inferno. His style and delivery is unique and although the world could have sampled this young star sooner, Kenneth Richards said he decided to develop his sound before sharing it with the world.
The 23- year- old said that his strategy is different from other artistes. “I experiment, sing, record and develop my sound until I think it is good enough for others to hear. If you hold back until your product is a glimpse away from greatness and then release it, people would want to hear from you again rather than if you release a poorly produced song,” he justified.
He said that after leaving local Rock/Alternative band, ‘5 Miles to Midnight’, he took some time off to change his sound, as he realised that Soca music was his calling. Having grown up around his step-father- soca legend Austin ‘SuperBlue’ Lyons, and participating in Miami Carnival as a child, K-Rich said he always felt connected to the culture.
As for Carnival 2013, Richards has been in the studio constantly since the season ended. He’s been working hard, recording new singles  and he’s also been working with several producers to ensure that he lives up to his fans’ expectations and his as well. ETCETERABUZZ.COM looks forward to great things from this young soca artiste.
