Not even the heaviest of downpours would put a damper on the spirits of Trinidad and Tobago feting die hards who attended Saturday night's WET IS event promoted and hosted by T&T urban frequency, Boomchampions 94.1FM. For weeks, the event- in its third year, was touted as the biggest party to hit the East/West corridor in August. On Saturday night, the radio station proved its influence, having attracted crowds approximated at 4000 at the Arima Velodrome, in Arima.
WET IS was definitely a success in 2012. It was the largest turn out seen in the three years of the event and with entertainment attractions like locals, Squeezy Rankin, Isasha, Jamelody, Prophet Benjamin, Ziggy Rankin and The Millionaire Family along with Jamaican acts, Mr. Vegas and Sheba, there was no question in the minds of the organising team that this year would have been phenomenal. ETCETERABUZZ.COM was there and all we can say is WOW! The crowd was definitely reminiscent of a carnival spirited bunch who simply had ‘a good time’ on their minds. Security was maximised and patrons seemed to have been on their best behaviour. Sexy was definitely an adjective used throughout the night, this as the ladies strutted into the venue scantily clad- some pushing the envelope but others- just right! The station’s DJ’s offered a wide selection of music much to the enjoyment of the massive crowd who took part, quite early on in the foam zone and didn’t even flinch when the water hoses were activated. For that reason, when the rain came pouring down they didn’t budge and went on party in the rain…
The Millionaire Family was the first act to hit the stage and they were well embraced. Fadda Moses gave a unique performance, mixing his hits with that of popular dancehall veterans like Shabba Ranks. New artiste Raskal got his chance and made good of it and youngsters, Kerry John an Jamel definitely showed off their ability to truly entertain. Later on, Squeezy Rankin got into character as he portrayed something out of a horror movie and wowed his Arima fans. Veterans, Johnny King, Scrunter and hit maker, All Rounder made their presence felt individually but it was All Rounder who sent the crowd into an uproar- at one point climbing onto the barrier between the stage and the crowd. Jamaica’s Mr. Vegas subsequently brought his unique pitch to the stage and as was expected, he invited females who felt they could heat up the stage a bit more, to make their way up. That was essentially a sight to behold… a sight that you could only truly grasp if you were there!
