Area 18's Opening!!!
Entertainment in Trinidad and Tobago is about to get a boost.
This according to new kid on the club circuit, Jason 'Shaft' Bishop. The well-known and highly reputed songwriter
who has provided the lyrical strength for such artistes as Machel Montano, Farmer Nappy, Nadia Batson and even
newcomer, Meagan Waldrond of the band SASS, is determined to bring a new vibe to the clubbing atmosphere
along the East/ West corridor in Trinidad.
This Friday, Bishop will officially launch his brand new Sports bar and lounge, uniquely called, Area 18. Situated in
the centre of the excitement in San Juan, the new hotspot boasts state of the art hardware inclusive of Play Station
consoles coupled with plasma televisions and not to mention, iPads for the pleasure and comfort of patrons in
attendance. Area 18 is located just opposite to the San Juan police post and according to Bishop, the recreation
spot, once launched, will welcome patrons who are receptive to good, clean, enjoyment, coupled with high security
and a truly tasteful atmosphere. " The lounge will be a no smoking zone and the general aim is to up the anti when
it comes to nighttime entertainment in the San Juan area. I felt like this was needed in that area because when you
really look at it, there isn't anything similar to what we'll be offering at Area 18, between Curepe and Morvant. This
lounge will fill a big gap in entertainment and recreational enjoyment in the East/ West corridor," said Bishop.
Noting that the lounge will be open to budding artistes who simply want a platform by which their talent can be
showcased, Bishop said, reminiscent of some ten years ago when a spot called Yard Lime was in existence, Area 18
will provide the avenue for marketing and promoting young entertainers of all walks of life. " We will also have an
array of experienced artistes passing through on Saturdays, so that's definitely something patrons can look forward
to," said the new club-owner.
Area 18 will open its doors to the public on Friday at 10pm in what is carded to be a memorable night. Bishop says
he expects a lot of positive reactions and he anticipates that everyone who comes through the club's doors on
launch night will partake in the technological entertainment that's available for their sampling
