2012 marks the 20^th anniversary of the famed collective of T&T sports enthusiasts and supporters known internationally as the ‘Trini Posse’. The group will celebrate this milestone in fine fashion and festivity during the start of the second test of the Digicel Series 2012 West Indies vs Australia at the Queens Park Oval from Sunday 15^th April to Wednesday 18^th April 2012.

The Trini Posse journey began in 1992 with the inaugural tour of the South African team to the West Indies and the infamous boycott of the game in Kensington, which left the group of Trinidadian followers as the only patrons at the oval. This consequently led to them being dubbed by the Barbadian press as the now world famous “Trini Posse”.

In 1996 on the 100^th Anniversary of the Queens Park Cricket Club,  the late Joey Carew offered them the opportunity to ‘fill the School Boy Stand with a few friends’ for the Sri Lanka test, thus began the Trini Posse Stand as it is called today.

Years later the faction has become the best known and most popular cricket fan base in the world and the Trini Posse Stand is the most popular gathering place for some of the most celebrated individuals in the region during any regional or international sporting event in the QPCC.

Having evolved over the years into a veritable ‘whose who’ event the group has attracted many distinguished guests to indulge in its all inclusive party atmosphere at the Trini Posse stand. These include His Excellency President George Maxwell Richards and his wife Dr. Jean Ramjohn-Richards, former T&T Prime Ministers Patrick Manning and Basdeo Panday and several Caribbean heads of government as well as top regional and international sporting icons, entertainment personalities and celebrities.

Although best known for supporting cricket TP has also been a huge supporter of football, cycling and other national teams and members have travelled the world to cheer on the national and West Indian cricket and football teams in England, Australia, South Africa,  Germany and the entire Caribbean region. Most notably, Trini Posse has become a tag name for Trinidadian groups worldwide and the organization has become a formidable brand and concept which has inspired a host of spin-offs around the globe such as the English Barmy Army, Australian Fanatics and the Jamaican Mound Posse.

This 20^th anniversary celebration will see TP along with the Tourism Development Company , Digicel, Carib, 3 Zero Rum, Blue Waters, KFC and Red Bull raise the bar with performances from major artists the likes of Super Soca artist Machel Montano, Prophet Benjamin, Carib Woodbrook Playboys and Tassa in the weekly line up.

Attendees to the stand can look forward to each day of the test being a special event with all inclusive offers and entertainment par excellence, as the brand’s loyal patrons and sponsors come together to enjoy great memories and to honour two of TP’s closest friends and founding fathers who recently passed away i.e. Bryan Seenath and Sean ‘Gruff” Grosvenor, who brought so much to the Trini Posse experience.
