Two stabbed in Grande Jouvert

TWO men who got into an altercation with a gang of men during J'ouvert celebrations in Sangre Grande were beaten, stabbed about their bodies and left for dead.
One of the victims — Dion Thomas of Toco Road, Matura, remains in serious condition at hospital after he was stabbed in the neck, police said.
His friend, identified by police as Kevin Sullivan, also sustained stab injuries about the body and remains warded in stable condition at the Sangre Grande District Hospital. Police believe several knives were used in the attack.
The incident occurred shortly after 7 a.m. during Jouvert celebrations along the Eastern Main Road in Sangre Grande, police said.
According to police Sullivan and Thomas were walking along the roadway when they got into an altercation with five men.
The suspects proceeded to beat and stab the victims about their bodies leaving them in a pool of blood. Sullivan and Thomas were later taken to hospital where they were treated and warded. Investigations are continuing into the incident.
Meanwhile 21 persons were arrested during Jouvert in Sangre Grande for offences such as being in possession of marijuana, knives, fighting, throwing missiles (glass bottles) and disorderly conduct. Two suspects were also held on drunk driving charges.
The arrests were supervised by ASP Neville Sanker and Sgt Ken Lutchman of the Sangre Grande Police Station.
