13-Year-Old Boy Raped 8-Year-Old Sister After Watching Porn On His Xbox One And Wanting To ‘Try It Out’
A 13-year-old British boy raped his 8-year-old sister after watching pornography on his X-Box.
According to Mirror, the teenager told police he used the console to view the adult material and then “decided to try it out.”
The boy said he chose his younger sister as a test subject because she was small and “couldn’t remember stuff.” He admitted to rape, indecent assault and inciting his sister to perform a sexual act on him at Blackburn Magistrates Court yesterday.
The boy has been sent to live with relatives.
Fiona Elvines of the Rape Crisis Charity said that children gaining easy access to pornography was a “growing concern,” Mirror reports.
“This is going to completely destabilize this little girl’s life,” she said. “It will take her a very long time to try and work through. It will have put her life on a different track and I do not want that to happen to anybody else. For a long time, people have been sitting on the fence and saying we do not have the evidence to say porn is harmful, but now we are starting to have some evidence around young people’s exposure.”
The British government has said that by the end of this year, all devices with Internet access will be blocked from accessing pornography unless the owners of such devices call their providers and gain permission to view explicit material.
The X-Box customer support website says that explicit content along with Internet access can be restricted with the use of parental controls and passwords.
X-Box makers Microsoft have since released a statement regarding the rape saying:
“We have the greatest sympathy for all involved in this case. At Microsoft we have some of the most robust systems that allow parents to control what their children play and watch online. For example, access to the Internet is switched off automatically for all child accounts on X-box, and we urge parents to review the settings on their children’s consoles.”
In November of last year, Daily Mail reports, a 12-year-old boy admitted to three charges of rape against his sister, younger than 10 years old, after watching porn at his school. He said he was merely trying to copy what he had seen.
The boy was ordered to undergo rehabilitation over the course of three years and to register as a sex offender for two and a half years.
He still lives at the family home.
