Did you know that Sony accidentally sold 700,000 camcorders which could see through….

Technology has evolved in ways most of us can’t even imagine. But one of the most curious cases of high-tech blunders did not take place nowadays, but in the distant year of 1998.

Sony, the multi-successful Japanese company, suffered a huge fiasco which lead to people accusing them of having nefarious purposes. Why was that? Because Sony sold 700, 000 camcorders which had the technical ability to see through people’s clothes. The camcorders had special infrared light lenses, which could see through dark-colored and thin clothing, depending on how well the piece of cloth absorbs the infrared waves. Take swimsuits, for example. The technology was made for cameras with IR night vision mode with low resolution of the images. But that didn’t stop Sony from accidentally selling them instead of digital cameras.
Of course, it was a mistake and the company recalled their products once they found out about it.
