An Easter Sunday DDI Experience
A tour of the Gasparee Caves, a hike exploring Gaspar Grande Island and a Monos Island beach lime. That is
how a group of 47 adventure seekers enjoyed their Easter Sunday.
My Team Events hosted the trip “Down de Islands“ for those wanting an exciting and unique getaway during
the Easter holiday weekend. A fun 10 minute boat ride from Island Home in Chaguaramas took the group to
Gaspar Grande Island. During a 15 minute trek uphill the group came across many of the unique flora and
fauna of the island including a silk cotton tree and giant cacti.
The group of adventure seekers then descended into the Gasparee Caves on a Chaguaramas Development
Authority (CDA) guided tour. The caves as always did not disappoint especially to those who visited for
the first time. The natural limestone cave system is home to very interesting and unique stalactites and
stalagmites formations. At the bottom of the cavern lays the Blue Grotto, a crystal clear tidal pool that
shimmers like a mirror. The more adventurous persons in the group had the opportunity to take a dip in the
pool.
Paul one of the patrons described the tour as "informative, a breath of fresh air and fun" But the fun didn’t
end there. The group then hiked up to one of the highest points on the island to visit some of the relics of the
historical past of the island including cannons used in World War II.
The next stop was the beach on Monos Island, which was just the right spot for the group to enjoy lunch
and have a good old fashioned ‘Trini beach lime’. Some relaxed and basked in the warmth of the beautiful
bright sunshine while others had themselves a great time in the water which was calm and just the right
temperature.
Just before sunset the group made its way back to the mainland still excited from the day’s activities. The
Road Trip is for the adventure seeker, the nature lover, the history enthusiast and those who have a passion
for new experiences.
