T&T Producer Makes Big Stride To Globalize Caribbean Sound
Port-of-Spain, Trinidad. March 12, 2013----A new lease on the business of entertainment- that’s the
mindset held by one of Trinidad and Tobago’s big names in music production at this time. For the man
who founded production company, HolyHouse Productions some time ago, this new lease on the business
he enjoys and works hard to deliver his best to, is compounded by a change that saw him connect with his
elder brother Josh Stewart who’s based in Atlanta. Together, they’ve formed Zig Boi Music- a full-fledged
entertainment and media marketing company; a company Mr. Spine believes will change the landscape of
Caribbean music marketing, enhancing it for the rest of the world to absorb.
Plans to deliver 19 music riddims within the next five months, while a challenge, is to Mr. Spine, simply a
part of the movement to make the music reach global destinations. He says much of the music has already
been produced but in the same breath, says artistes wishing to learn more about how they can be a part of
the movement, can contact the entity by emailing zigboiinc@gmail.com. “The company is based in Atlanta
but I will be holding down the Caribbean side of things. The business is structured and modeled after the
American marketing model,” he said, explaining that aside from the musical delivery on the production side
of things, they will be offering artistes a visual marketing opportunity complete with an aggressive campaign
aimed at getting the music distributed to key people in the industry.
Already, one riddim has been released. It’s title? – The Private Riddim, a collaborative effort between Zig
Boi and G Productions which features Trinidad and Tobago entertainers, Fadda Moses, RKG, Selector
Monty and Squad-d. According to Mr. Spine, the music is all about that effervescent club vibe, something
he feels will auger well among the young club hoppers who are preparing for the summer holiday fun. In
addition to music and media marketing, Zig Boi handles the management of artistes. Mr. Spine however
explained they are very selective when it comes to management, but immediately indicated that in some
cases they will work with entertainers to assist with bookings.
With a second music release earmarked for two weeks from now, the very talented producer who attests
to working with some of the Caribbean’s big names, says the mission is simple. “The aim is adopt the US
work ethic that we feel is needed to take our productions and the artistes who work with us to a higher level.
We’ll be delivering hip hop, dancehall, soca and reggae tracks so we’re not about any one type of music-
we’re about music,” he emphasized. Encouraging T&T and the rest of the Caribbean and certainly the world
to keep abreast of all Zig Boi has in store, Mr. Spine gave the assurance that great things are on the way.
