Cancer is not a death sentence nor is it just a health issue.
This from the Trinidad and Tobago Cancer Society on World Cancer Day ….
In a media release Chairperson, Dr. Jacqueline Pereira-Sabga, said she hoped the public would take full advantage of cancer screenings that could potentially save their lives, as early detection remains the best protection against the disease.
She added that if the cancer statistics of Trinidad and Tobago were to be reduced, healthy lifestyles and routine screenings would have to take precedence.
The Union for International Cancer Control, (UICC) has dubbed World Cancer Day 2013 "Cancer - Did you know?" as there are still many myths and misconceptions about the disease.
In the same vain, the Society has launched social media campaigns through Facebook and Twitter to help spread the word and shed light on common misunderstandings about the disease.
