4giving Charity Donation Drive: Trinis are 4giving!
My Team Events hosted its first ever charitable event 4giving on Saturday 24th November 2012. The Donation Drive that encouraged the public to give 4 types of donations which included canned food, toys/books, clothing and time (volunteer hours) was held at the National Library, Abercromby Street, Port of Spain.
Many persons came out to support the worthwhile cause as 4 NGO’s benefited from the generosity of all who contributed. The NGO’s included Is There Not A Cause (ITNAC), Kids in Need of Direction (KIND), the Trinidad and Tobago Cancer Society and the Volunteer Center of Trinidad and Tobago. Despite being a first time event, a significant amount of toys, canned food and clothing was collected and distributed among the NGO’s who were extremely appreciative.
Communications Officer for the NGO Is There Not A Cause (ITNAC), Danielle Johnson applauded My Team Events saying “They were instrumental in helping ITNAC raise awareness about who we are and what we do. They also assisted us in our vital Christmas fundraising.”
The main goal of My Team Events is to create fun lasting memories by producing events with a local twist that enable camaraderie and strengthen the bonds of friendship. The company felt mandated to develop the 4giving concept not just as an event but as an initiative, as it seeks to foster and embed a spirit of charity, not just during the Christmas season but year round. As such, My Team Events intends to host a charitable event tri-annually to facilitate this.
Kenyon Champion, Event Coordinator and owner of My Team Events stated that “Despite being a small business, we saw it fit to take up the Corporate Social Responsibility mantle and to something to positively impact and help the less fortunate.”
Donors also got the chance to interact with the 4 NGO’s to find out what projects they were involved in and how they can make additional contributions. Many persons also took up the mantle to become an active volunteer and pledged their time through the Volunteer Center of Trinidad and Tobago, an organization that is the hub for volunteerism and projects that need volunteers.
The event also included live music by DJ Hinds, Nintendo Wii games for donors to play contributed by Chrono Fantasy Entertainment and other fun activities.
My Team Events extends heartfelt thanks to everyone who gave donations or who contributed in the event in any way. A special thank you must also be extended to the event volunteers who played a crucial role. Thanks everyone 4giving!
