Charlie Sheen Wanted To Play Peter Parker In Spider-Man!
Close your eyes and imagine for a moment...
What would the world be like if Charlie Sheen had played Peter Parker in the first Spider-Man movie???
Yeah, we saw the apocalypse too. LOLz!
Before the actor became the highest paid star on television, got fired after a public meltdown and then rebounded with Anger Management, it turns out that the MaSheen was WAY ahead of the entire film industry.
On a recent podcast, the 46-year-old revealed he had wanted to be the world's friendly neighborhood Spider-Man LONG before Sam Raimi cast Tobey Maguire for the 2002 blockbuster. In fact, he even pitched it to a production company, as he explained:
"I had an office at Orion at the time, and I brought them Spider-Man. I said, 'Look, in a couple of years, I'll be too old to play Peter Parker.' And they said, 'Yeah, we're just thinking that cartoons are not the future, comic books are not the future.' And I said, 'But it's Spider-Man, I'm perfect.' And they were like, 'Nah, we're gonna wait.' ... They didn't know shit."
No, they certainly did not! Orion Pictures closed down in 1998 and clearly missed out on the opportunity of a lifetime had they at least taken Sheen's advice.
Still...we're not so sure how we would have felt about watching Charlie Sheen swing around New York City in tights. What's done is done and we're pretty satisfied with his film career in the 90s, aren't U?
