WHIM topples Bamboo in Atlantic cricket
WHIM AC is moving along nicely into the quarterfinals stages of the Atlantic Primary Schools cricket league, as they easily defeated Bamboo Settlement Government in their North Championship cricket clash at Bamboo. Batting first, in a match reduced to ten overs per side, WHIM made 68 for two with Joshua James scoring an unbeaten 31, that would earn him the man of the match title. Also in support was Marly James with 11. The pick of the bowlers for Bamboo was Vikash Maharaj with 1/11. When Bamboo batted they lost wickets at regular intervals and although Vikash Maharaj counted 21, they would only muster 48 for five in reply. Jesse James was almost unplayable for WHIM, in taking 1/3. In the Girls clash, hosts Mason Hall got the better of Tunapuna Presbyterian by five wickets. Tunapuna batting first scored 111 for seven with Celine Loraine taking two wickets for 17 runs. Mason Hall with solid contributions from the top order, then scored 115 for five to take the win. There has been a delay in action in the South Championship because of bad weather. This has forced organisers to do over the fixtures and action is set to get off this week.
