Octave launches new condom line Play Wit It
Singer Orlando Octave is on a high, and it's not musical. His very own line of latex condoms, called Play Wit It, will be launched today at La Casa de Ibiza in Port-of-Spain. The 22-year-old Rio Claro native says it gives him great joy to be a part of an initiative that he knows will help youths, especially those between the ages of 14 and 24. "We are losing lives through sexually transmitted diseases. STDs have no face and everybody should really support this," said the young artiste. The artiste became popular in T&T in 2007, when he released the single, Darkie, and has been working with a Canadian/US-based record company. Having returned from Jamaica on Saturday after a recording session at dancehall singer Demarco's studio, Octave says he hopes the more mature demographic will support this initiative.
He says his personal hope is for the youths of T&T and the Caribbean to understand the importance of practising safe sex. The condom line is the beginning of a number of projects young Octave is undertaking—projects aimed at establishing his brand as a global entertainer. In mid-May, he will release his single Disconnected, which comes complete with a video that was shot in Toronto, Canada. He assures fans of the Millionaire Family that he will remain a member of the group and is merely exploring solo projects with the help of the Millionaires Records team. "The Millionaire Family is foundation. That is solid," he said. The Play Wit It line of condoms will be distributed across T&T, the Caribbean, Canada and the US, said Millionaires Records CEO, Richard Hope. The condoms will come in three distinct flavours—cherry, vanilla and blackberry. "These are quality, specialty condoms," said Octave.
