How to Use Lipstick as Blush
Although not specifically formulated to be used as blush, lipstick is a reasonable alternative if you've run out of blush or just want to try something new. Lipstick essentially works in the same way as a cream blush — as long as you use a light touch, you should be able to create a natural look. Does this Spark an idea?

Things You'll Need
- Tube of lipstick
Instructions
- 1
Choose a red, pink or peach lipstick. You can also use a bronze lipstick to give your face a sun-kissed glow. Wash your hands to get rid of bacteria, as you will be using your fingertips to apply the lipstick as blush.
- 2
Swipe some color from the lipstick onto your index finger. About three swipes should be enough color for each cheek. Don't exceed five swipes of lipstick or you'll end up with a mess on your hands.
-
- 3
Dab three spots of the lipstick onto the apples of your cheeks in a triangular pattern. Add more or less lipstick depending on how much color your want on your cheeks. Keep in mind that lipstick is highly pigmented, and the color will be very noticeable.
- 4
Using a clean finger, blend the lipstick in outward strokes, across your cheekbones toward your hairline. Blend until all telltale lines have softened and disappeared.
Tips & Warnings
-
Use a matte lipstick for the most realistic blush color.
-
Use a glossy lipstick if you want some light sparkle on your cheeks.
-
Don't use lip gloss as blush. It will feel sticky and look unnatural.
