Karma wins awards and excites audiences en route to Carnival 2012.
POS, Trinidad (Sonique Solutions) – In the midst of preparation for a an action packed Carnival 2012, Chutney Soca super band Karma has been thrilling crowds locally and globally while simultaneously receiving music industry accolades and appreciation.
Fresh off the heels of a recent highly anticipated show in Toronto alongside Kes the Band, Karma hurried back from the great white north to sweet T&T to spread Christmas cheer to the masses at several prestigious holiday staff functions.
Amidst a hectic schedule of rehearsals and recording studio sessions the band went all out in delivering its trademark, high energy performances. With frontline vocalists Ravi B, Nisha B and Gregory Ayuen at the helm, Karma had the attendants at the Supermarket Association, Law Association, Neal and Massy and Carib Christmas soirees grooving, dancing and singing at the top of their lungs to the band’s lively, multi-genre repertoire of music.
Karma brought a unique vibrancy to these events and unleashed the true spirit of Christmas festivity to audiences which included Opposition Leader Dr. Keith Rowley, Minister of Health Dr. Fuad Khan, Attorney General Anand Ramlogan and former independent senator and attorney at law Dayna Seetahal.
The band also was recently honoured with awards from both the Soca and East Indian music fraternities. Karma won the awards for ‘Overall Soca Chutney band of the year’ and ‘Best Soca Chutney video’ for the 2011 hit “Cya Come” at the International Soca Awards at NAPA. At the 2011 edition of the 103 FM Hall of Fame and Music Awards front man Ravi B copped awards for ‘Best Collaboration’ together with Indar Kanhai and Rennie Ramnarine and ‘Video of the Year’, for last year’s “Ah Drinka”.
2010 Chutney Soca Monarch, Ravi B shared on behalf of the band, “We feel very privileged to have performed at these events and to share our passion for entertaining with all audiences. We sincerely thank our fans and colleagues in the Soca and Chutney industry for all of their support and love for Karma and we will continue to remain humble and dedicated to creating great music and sharing Chutney Soca with the world”.
He further stated that for 2012 fete patrons and music lovers can expect even more dynamic stage shows and presentations from Karma.
